Lancia Delta Integrale before and after: red to grey full body paint and PPF at Apex Detail Studio Dubai
Before and after: the Lancia went from red to grey with a full body paint and paint protection film.

What did this Lancia Delta Integrale restoration involve?

We resprayed this Lancia Delta Integrale from red to Nardo Grey, fitted full paint protection film over the fresh paint, and tinted the windows, so the car left the studio with a new colour that is protected from day one.

The car arrived in red. The owner wanted a new colour, and a full body paint job is the only way to change the colour of a classic properly, including the door shuts, edges and panels that a wrap cannot reach in the same way. Once the paint was done, the car went straight to our film team, because a new finish is at its best the day it leaves the booth and is worth keeping that way. The tints went on last.

Our paint, film and tint teams work under one roof in Al Quoz, so the car moved from the booth to the installation bay without leaving the studio. The photos in this article follow it through every step.

The Delta Integrale as it arrived

Why respray a classic like the Delta Integrale?

A respray gives a classic a uniform, fresh finish in the colour the owner wants, and on an older car it is often the cleanest way to deal with tired paint across every panel at once.

The Delta Integrale is one of the great rally homologation cars, and owners keep them for years. Paint on a car of this age has usually seen a lot: sun, washing and small repairs over decades. A full body paint job resets the finish across the whole car, so every panel matches. Changing the colour at the same time lets the owner make the car their own, and Nardo Grey suits the boxy arches and quad lamps of the Integrale.

For classics where the goal is to keep the original finish rather than change it, we take a gentler route. Our guide to classic car dry ice cleaning in Dubai covers that side of our work.

How was the Lancia resprayed in Nardo Grey?

The car was masked, sprayed panel by panel in our paint booth, and the doors were taken off and sprayed on stands so every edge got full coverage.

Glass, trim, lights and openings were covered with paper and tape first. The painter then laid Nardo Grey over the red one panel at a time: rear quarters, boot lid, bonnet and roof on the car, doors off the car. You can see the red disappearing under the grey in the photos below.

Step by step on this Lancia Delta Integrale

Why fit PPF straight after a respray?

Because new paint is at its most perfect the day it is finished, and PPF keeps it that way by taking the stone chips, scratches and sand that would otherwise mark it.

A respray is a big investment. Without film, the first highway drive can chip the front of the car, and Dubai’s sand, heat above 45C and strong UV all work on the paint every day. Film is a clear urethane layer that absorbs those hits, and light marks in the film heal with heat. If the film is ever changed, it comes off and the paint underneath is still the paint that left our booth. You can read more about film itself on our paint protection film page.

On this Lancia the film went over the whole body. The installers laid each piece on a slip solution, positioned it by hand, squeegeed the water out and wrapped the edges around the arches, door edges and sills where the panel allows.

Were the windows tinted too?

Yes. Once the film was done, the team fitted window tints to the glass, which keeps the cabin cooler and cuts glare in the Dubai sun.

Tinting a classic takes care because the glass and seals are older. The film is cut to each window, laid on with slip solution and smoothed from the centre out. For more on films and shades, see our window tint Dubai page.

The whole job is on film: the Delta Integrale arriving in red, the respray to Nardo Grey, the paint protection film going on over the fresh paint and the window tints at the end. It runs just under five minutes.

What does the finished Lancia look like?

The finished car is a Nardo Grey Delta Integrale with an even, fresh finish across every panel, now under full paint protection film and with tinted windows.

The before and after shows how much the colour change transforms the car. The boxy rally shape, wide arches and round lights look sharper in grey, and the film keeps the new paint looking the way it did when it left the booth. If you like seeing classics brought back, our Porsche 996 Turbo restoration is another one from the studio.

How much does a respray and PPF cost on a classic?

Full PPF at Apex starts from AED 12,000 for sedans, AED 13,500 for SUVs and trucks, and AED 15,000 for colour PPF, before 5% VAT and depending on options. Paint work and tints depend on the car and the job; send your car details on WhatsApp for an exact quote.

The cost of a respray depends on the condition of the car, how much needs to come off for painting, and the colour. The film cost depends on the coverage you choose, from the front end to the full body. We quote paint, film and tints together so you know the full figure before the car goes into the booth. What our PPF customers say

Frequently asked questions

Can you change the colour of a classic car with paint?

Yes. A full body respray changes the colour across every panel, including shuts and edges. This Lancia Delta Integrale went from red to Nardo Grey.

Why were the doors taken off for painting?

Spraying the doors on stands lets the painter cover the edges and shuts evenly, which gives a cleaner result than painting them on the car.

Should I put PPF on new paint?

Yes. Fresh paint is at its best on day one, and PPF protects it from stone chips, scratches and sand from the first drive.

Is a wrap or a respray better for a colour change?

A wrap is reversible and protects the paint; a respray is permanent and covers every edge and shut. The right choice depends on the car and what you want long term.

Can you do paint, PPF and window tints in one visit?

Yes. On this Lancia the paint, full PPF and window tints were all done under one roof in our Al Quoz studio, so the car never left the building between stages.

How much does full PPF cost in Dubai?

Full PPF at Apex starts from AED 12,000 for sedans, AED 13,500 for SUVs and trucks, and AED 15,000 for colour PPF, before 5% VAT and depending on options. Paint work is quoted per car.

Yes. We work on classics in our Al Quoz studio, from restorations like this Lancia to dry ice cleaning that keeps the original finish.
